Salt to Saint

Driving from Salt Lake City to St. George, to me, is sometimes a tedious and somewhat boring drive having to be inside a vehicle for 5 plus hours.  Now think about the length of time it would take to ride your bike that distance.  That is exactly what we did this year in the 2012 Salt to Saint Bike Race.  Team C4 cycling with Marc Stryker, Neil, Gordon Mertens, and Steve Barnes made up the 4 man team who cycled 430 miles in 23 hours and 45 minutes. 

Julie Mertens and I were the "pit crew" driving and helping with the transitions.  I have to admit it was a lot of fun and the guys rode awesome.  They finished 12th overall and fourth in the 4 man team division. 

Oops, I posted one picture twice.  It isn't allowing me to click on the picture and delete it... I suppose that is ok because my nephews are so cute that having their picture two times is  just a nice bonus.

Purple People Eaters

Liv decided she wanted to give soccer a try this year (that makes for one happy mom) :).  Her team name was the Purple People Eaters.  She was on the same team as her friend Jade.  To date, they have lost five and won one game.  I love going to the games and seeing her improve week to week.  Here are a few shots from this season.

Blue Strikers

Bellar was SUPER excited to play soccer this year.  The first game she wasn't so much into the action of the game but she happily ran up and down the field with a big grin on her face.  But then the tides turned and from the second game on she decided she didn't want to play soccer anymore.  We had weeks where she would just stand on the field and play with her pony tail and weeks where she wouldn't even walk onto the field.  We tried bribery and nothing seemed to work.  She had decided she was done playing soccer and that was that.  She is signed up for spring soccer so we are hoping that by then she will have a bit more enthusiasm and energy to play!  That kid is so lovable but can be so headstrong at times.  Her dad says she gets that from me (I beg to differ) :)

Adams Canyon - Fall Leaves

I had been wanting to take the kids to the canyon to see the fall leaves for awhile.  I was actually getting antsy to go.  My Bellar doesn't like "walking adventures" so I was hesitant on how much hiking we would actually get to do.  She was the polar opposite and never complained the entire time.  She loved, loved, loved the hike.  She had a gallon size ziploc bag to collect her leaves, sticks, and rock collection.  It was fun to see her come to life and have so much fun.  We took Schatzie on our hike as well.  She never slowed down the entire time and loved being outside.  The kids made dad take her on the leash because she was so excited that she kept pulling them.

I have to say that the leaves were absolutely stunning.  I am amazed by the beauty of Fall.  It is perhaps one of my favorite seasons.
